Jimmy Lo
Award-winning filmmaker, film educator, film curator
Jimmy Lo is an award-winning filmmaker, film educator and film festival curator/programmer from Hong Kong, currently based in Canada. His debut documentary film Stories of Pang Jai (2024) won Best Feature Film and Best Cinematography for Feature Film at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival 2024 and was nominated for the Human Rights Award at the South Taiwan Film Festival. His second feature film Give and Take (2025), which explores the recent Hong Kong immigrants in Canada, premiered in London, UK in 2025. His films have screened internationally, including in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Sweden, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.
Jimmy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications at MacEwan University and Visiting Faculty at The University of Hong Kong. He teaches Film and Video production and Documentary Film Studies at universities and co-curates UBC Asian Independent Cinema Showcase and Documenting Hong Kong.
Jimmy holds an MFA in Film Production from the University of British Columbia.
